THE  LORD OF SIPAN TOMB 

Near from the actual town of Sipan, on the Lambayeque valley, in the year 1987, the archaeologists from the Bruning Museum guided by Walter Alva, discovered the lord of Sipan Tomb.

Restored it was a hard work of investigation. The Lord of Sipan, that was buried 1700 years ago, lied in a desintegrated coffin of wood with the ornaments, headdresses, emblems and clothes of gold, silver, golden copper and semi-valuable stones that he used when he lived; surrounded by 8 companions between wives, warriors and servants. Animals sacrified and more than tho usands of vessels with offerings was also discovered.

The things found were sings of power, rank and authority. They are valuable pieces of gold smith's trade and metallurgic technique. They also have sing and methafhors from the religion of the Mochica cosmovision. The clothes were used to many ceremonies. The images in the art of this culture had live.

Six tombs more was discovered in the last years; belong to important martial leaders and conspicous members from the rank of the lords. Each burial showed the function and place of the persons buried in the different constructive stages from the real  mausoleum, located in front of the two pyramids which form the Sipan Sanctuary. The investigation continue to resolve all this grand mistery.
